Watching Queen Charlotte and the number of times Lady Danbury reaches out to her husband. She dislikes him, but you can see these times when she tries, honestly tries to form some connection to him. From trying to share with him the joy of the new home/land, to telling him he’s not any less than the rest of the ton, to the night of the ball -when she was the one who did all the work - to trying to share her success with him only to have him claim all of it, Lady Danbury tried so hard to have some kind of connection with her husband. And this is after years of them being married, four children who are away in school, and she’s still trying. It makes me like her more. Not that I would’ve blamed her for hating him to the point of completely cut off attempts and just tolerated him when she had to, but there’s something beautiful and sad, that speaks of her strength, that she still reaches for him. She hates him, he’s an awful man, and yet she still tried to connect with him.
